Indian woman tennis player Sania Mirza and her Chinese partner Peng Shuai have entered the Cincinnati Open tennis tournament quarter-finals. However, Indian men’s tennis player Ramkumar Ramanathan was out of the match.
The fourth seeded pair of the tournament defeated Germany’s Georges and Olga Savchuk of Ukraine in straight-sets 7-5, 6-4 in the women’s doubles match. The pair of Sania and Shuai will now face Romania’s pair of Irina-Kamelia Begu and Raluka Olaru in the quarter-finals. In the men’s singles category, India’s Ramkumar was beaten by American wild card player Jared Donaldson.
Ramkumar was defeated by Donaldson 4-6, 6-2, 4-6. This is the second consecutive defeat of the Indian player against the American player. Earlier, in 2015, in the French Open qualifier round, Donaldson defeated Ramkumar. In addition, Rohan Bopanna will play his second round match against fellow partner Ivan Dodig in the men’s doubles category against Colombia’s Juan Sebastian Cabal and Italian Fabio Foginii.
